Chimay Gran Cru is one of Penn Mac's finest artisanal cheeses, with a creamy initial taste and a fine, soothing finish. It has a strong smell that is unique to this cheese as compared to some other artisanal French cheeses. Made in Belgium, Chimay Grand Cru is a semi-hard pressed cheese made from pasteurized cow's milk, and the rind is washed with Trappist Beer. Aged for 6 weeks, this is a Trappist cheese in the best sense.
