Hormel Hard Salami

Hormel Hard Salami is a type of sausage made from pork and beef, which has not been cooked, but instead cured to make it safe for eating. The meat is processed with garlic and other seasonings, cured, air-dried, and wrapped in a casing. The texture is course, dry, and harder than other types of sausage. Hormel's hard salami is perfect for slicing for a quick snack or as the main ingredient to your favorite sandwich.

Hard Salami tends to have less fat than Genoa Salami and very rarely has any added smoke flavor added to it. Hard Salami is German in origin and is harder and often dryer than Genoa Salami is. Hard Salami usually has smoke flavor added or is smoked. Typically Genoa is softer and milder than Hard Salami, although Genoa Salami can be rendered hard by drying it down.
