Danish Esrom, sometimes known as Danish Port Salut, is a yellow, semi-soft cheese from Denmark with a particularly sweet flavor. A rich, flavorful cheese, pairs up perfectly with fruit and bread. The cheese was named in 1962 after Esrum Kloster in Northern Zealand. Esrom is made from fresh milk from cows and is the so-called fished cheese. This basically means that the cheese pieces are fished up from the cheese vat when the whey is drained off after it is aged.
