People have been using and eating mushrooms for an extremely long time, back to the Paleolithic times! And today, in the United States alone, people consume 750 million pounds of commercially grown mushrooms. The Roland brand appreciates mushrooms a great deal, especially with their mixed mushrooms, an assortment of four types of wild mushrooms that have been dried.

Drying is the oldest and most commonly used way to preserve mushrooms and Roland follows this tradition. These delightful dried mushrooms are a product of France and are highly nutritious with lots of rich minerals and a subtly chewy texture.

The best way to use these mushrooms is as you would fresh mushrooms. They will work perfectly in your favorite sauce (especially white pasta sauces), omelets, or as an accompaniment to meat and game. Dried mushrooms also taste great in stews and soups because the heat allows their flavor to come through in a wonderful way. Or try sautéing the mushrooms in a bit of olive oil and red wine and you have a simple side dish ready to be served with a grilled meat main course.

To use: Soak in warm water for 20 minutes, then rinse and drain. Don’t forget that you can use the warm water that they have soaked in as extra flavoring!
