$3.19Our Caponata Di Melanzane is another popular aubergine eggplant appetizer from Sicily. A “jack of all trades,” this dish can be served in a variety of ways (with a variety of accompaniments). Whether you’re eating it with bread, pasta, or on the side with meat, you can choose to keep it either hot or cold. Some say that room temperature is actually ideal.
While there are many variations of Caponata Di Melanzane, including versions that focus primarily on aubergine and tomatoes, our Cuoco brand includes eggplant, tomatoes, celery, water, onions, sunflower oil, sugar, olives, wine vinegar, olive oil, capers, and last but not least, salt. We encourage customers to try the eggplant appetizer with any number of our crackers. Yum.
It’s interesting to look at some of the recipes online and how they differ from one another. In every addition or subtraction of an ingredient, we see a little character provided by the cook. For instance, some say that olives are key ingredients in Caponata Di Melanzane, while others leave them out altogether. That’s what we call character! At the same time, we all know that a little too much character can ruin a dish. Not to worry, though. Ours is the good kind. We promise!
